This beautiful edition of Poppy A Story in Twelve Chapters was published by S W Partridge and Co. The book is undated but I'd estimate it to be from the later Victorian era (circa 1890/1900).
The book is bound in mustard yellow cloth with intricate blind stamped decoration in black and gilt to the front board. There is also a floral illustration pasted to the front board. It's in excellent condition, with only minor wear to the corners and spine ends. The book shows a slight forward lean and there is very light soiling to the cloth.
Inside, there is some rust staining from the staples at the gutter of the preliminary pages and the end pages. There is also tanning to the endpapers. The rest of the pages are clean and bright.
Dimensions approximately 15.1cm x 10.6cm x 8cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
