This beautiful edition of Tales of Three Centuries was published by the Religious Tract Society and has been translated from the original French by Madame Guizot de Witt. The book itself isn't dated but there is a written inscription dated 1879. The book contains a tale of a Huguenot Family from the 16th Century, A Tale of the Pilgrim Fathers from the 17th Century and The Church Under the Cross from the 18th Century.
The book is bound in blue cloth with stunning decoration blind stamped in gilt and black to the front board and spine. All edges are gilt. It's in very good condition but there is wear and bumping to the corners and minor rubbing to the gilt on the front board. The spine is sunned and discoloured, with crushing to the spine ends.
Inside, the pages show light age toning and occasional foxing. There is bumping to the bottom corner of the text block.
Dimensions approximately 18.7cm x 14.4cm x 2.3cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
