This collection of books from the Shown to the Children Series doesn't feature the usual bindings - they're bound in burgundy cloth with a slight leatherette effect and beautiful gilt decoration to the spines and the top edges are gilt. The set features Architecture, The Navy, Sculpture and Painting. They were published by TC and EC Jack. The books are undated but I'd estimate them to be from the 1920's.
They're in very good condition but do show wear and rubbing to the corners, spine edges and board edges, with some loss to the surface colour of the cloth. The spine ends are crushed and there is foxing to the text block edges.
Inside, the pages show age toning and foxing throughout. There are no inscriptions. There are occasional cracks to the gutter but the pages remain tightly bound.
There are beautiful black and white illustration plates, as well as line drawings within the text, which make these a lovely little collection.
Dimensions approximately 16.5cm x 12cm x 2.2cm.
Every book purchased will be hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
