This beautiful edition of Hearts to Conquer by Kate T Sizer was published by Jarrold and Sons. The book itself is undated but I'd estimate it to be from the Edwardian era (circa 1900-1910).
The book is bound in blue cloth with beautiful yellow floral decoration to the front board and spine. It's a striking binding and in good condition, but the book does show a forward lean and there is wear to the corners. The cloth shows soiling and minor marking, with superficial chipping to the surface of the cloth on the back board. The spine is darkened and there is crushing to the spine ends.
Inside, the front free endpaper has been removed and the pages show scattered foxing throughout. There are other more occasional marks and also some cracks to the gutter in places. There is one black and white illustration.
All books purchased will be hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
