This beautiful edition of The Lost Child by Franz Hoffman was published by Ward, Lock and Co. The book is undated but I'd estimate it to be from circa 1890/1900.
The book is bound in grey cloth with pictorial decoration of fuchsias to the front board and spine. The cloth shows marking and noticeable soiling, with some air bubbling to the cloth of the back board. The board edges are lightly bumped and there is crushing to the spine ends. There is marking to the text block edges.
Inside, there is neatly written name and address on the front free endpaper and the pages show light age toning and sporadic foxing but the text is clear and bright. There is some superficial cracking to the gutter in places but the pages are tightly bound.
Dimensions approximately 17.3cm x 12cm x 1.7cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
