This stunning antique edition of Lucile by Owen Meredith was published by Thomas Crowell. The book itself is undated but there is a written inscription inside dated 1899, making it late Victorian.
The book is bound in quarter cream cloth with beautiful gilt floral decoration and floral paper boards. All edges gilt. It's in very good condition but there is some light toning and foxing to the spine. The corners and board edges show wear and chipping to the paper, with the paper peeling in places.
Inside, there is a neatly written inscription across the front pastedown and front free endpaper. The pages are clean and bright with light age toning and sporadic foxing. There are occasional cracks to the gutter but the pages remain tightly bound. Dimensions approximately18.7cm 13.3cm x 3cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string. The bubble wrap I use is 100% biodegradable and the jiffy bags are recyclable.
Where possible, I use 100% recyclable paper tape, but sometimes I have to use clear plastic tape for extra strength.
