This beautiful vintage edition of Little Women and Good Wives by Louisa May Alcott was published by James Nisbet & Co Ltd. The book is undated but these bindings usually date from the early 20th century. So the book is likely to be from the Edwardian era (1902 - 1910).
The book is bound in blue cloth with blind stamped art nouveau decoration to the front board and spine. All edges gilt. It's in good condition with the most noticeable flaw being the fading and rubbing to the spine - the rubbing has caused some surface loss from the floral decoration. There is also fading around the edges of the boards. The spine ends are crushed and there is a small dent to the edge of the back board.
Inside, the endpapers are tanned and there are no inscriptions or writings of any kind. The pages have age toning throughout with occasional foxing.
Dimensions approximately 20.3cm x 14cm x 4.1cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string. The bubble wrap I use is 100% oxo-degradable and the jiffy bags are recyclable.
Where possible, I use 100% recyclable paper tape, but sometimes I have to use clear plastic tape for extra strength.
