This beautiful edition of A Forgotten Hero by Emily S Holt was published by John F Shaw and Co. The book itself is undated but id estimate it to be from the late Victorian era (circa 1890/1900).
The book is bound in brown cloth with beautiful floral decoration to the front board and spine. It’s in good condition, but the book does show a forward lean and there is wear to the corners. The boards show minor marking and rubbing and there is crushing to the spine ends.
Inside, there is slight cracking to the hinges and the pages show tanning throughout - particularly to the margins of the pages. There are cracks to the gutter throughout, with some page segments feeling a little loose, but there are no detached pages. There is some damage to the bottom edge of the last page of text - this does not reach the text.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
