This beautiful edition ofQueechy by Elizabeth Wetherell was published by John F Shaw and Co. The book itself is undated but id estimate it to be from the Edwardian era (circa 1900/1910).
The book is bound in teal blue cloth with stunning floral decoration and gilt to the front board and spine. All edges gilt. It’s in very good condition, with just some small marks to the boards and wear to the corners - the bottom corner of the front board is bumped. There is a little rubbing to the spine and crushing to the spine ends.
Inside, there is slight cracking to the front hinge but the pages remain tightly bound. There is a name and address written on one of the preliminary blank pages. The pages show scattered foxing throughout.
Dimensions approximately 20.8cm x 15cm x 5cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
