This beautiful vintage edition of East Lynne by Mrs Henry Wood was published by Collins Clear Type Press. The book itself is undated but I'd estimate it to be from circa 1910.
The book is bound in green cloth over bevelled boards, with beautiful pictorial decoration of a Victorian lady to the front board and spine. It's a really striking binding and in very good condition. There is light wear and bumping to the corners and foxing to the text block edges. The board edges show some shelf wear and bumping. There is very light sunning to the spine and crushing to the spine ends.
Inside the endpapers are beautifully decorative with illustrations from well known novels and stories. The pages show significant foxing throughout but the text is clear and bright. There is cracking to the gutter at the title page but the pages remain tightly bound.
The book features a handful of colour plates by Eva Roos.
Dimensions approximately 20cm x 14cm x 4.8cm.
The books will be posted hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
