This beautiful first edition of The Book of Romance by Andrew Lang was published by Longmans, Green and Co in 1902. It has been priced low due to the following condition points...Three Colour Plates are missing from the book and some of the black and white plates have been coloured in (quite well though, I might add!)
The book is bound in blue cloth with gilt decoration to the front board and spine. It's an exquisite binding and outwardly in very good condition. There is minor wear and crushing to the corners, and the book shows a forward lean. The spine is very lightly sunned, with crushing to the spine ends.
Inside, there is a written name and date on one of the preliminary blank pages and a crack to the gutter just before the frontispiece. There is age toning to the pages and occasional foxing and minor marking. The frontispiece is loose from the title page at the top but still attached. There is superficial cracking to the gutter in places. As mentioned above, there are three colour plates missing and some of the black and white plates have been coloured in.
The book is filled with beautiful black and white illustrations by H J Ford.

The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough)
