This beautiful edition ofGraham’s Victory by Grace Stebbing was published by John F Shaw and Co. The book itself is undated but id estimate it to be from the late Victorian era (circa 1890/1900).
The book is bound in teal blue cloth with beautiful floral decoration and gilt to the front board and spine. It’s in good condition, with the two most important condition points being the small areas of loss to the cloth (the top corner of the front board looks chewed, with some loss and fraying to the cloth, and there is another hole in the cloth along the top edge of the front board). Other than this though, the cloth is clean and bright, with only minor marks to the boards. There is a scrape to the spine and the bottom corner is dented.
Inside, the front free endpaper has been removed, leaving a jagged edge. The pages show toning, with sporadic foxing and age staining.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
