This beautiful vintage edition of John Halifax; Gentleman by Mrs Craik was published by James Nisbet & Co Ltd. The book is undated but there is a name written inside dated 1912.
The book is bound in red cloth with stunning art nouveau floral decoration to the front board and spine. It's in very good condition with only light wear to the corners and crushing to the spine ends. The back board has a couple of horizontal scrapes to the cloth and there is significant foxing to the text block edges.
Inside, there is light age toning to the pages with scattered foxing and occasional marking. There are two purple stamps to the front pastedown. There is a name and date written on the front free endpaper.
Dimensions approximately 20.3cm x 14cm x 4cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
