This striking edition of Malleus Maleficarum The Hammer of Witchcraft was written by Jacobus Sprenger and Heinrich Kramer. It was published by The Folio Society in 1968 and the book still has it's original slipcase.
The book was originally written in the 15th century by a German Catholic Clergyman Heinrich Kramer. It was described by some as the compendium of literature in demonology of the 1400's. Interestingly, in 1519, a new author, Jacob Sprenger was added. This has puzzled many historians because this was 33 years after the book's first printing and 24 years after Sprenger died. So why was he added?
It's in very good condition with the only flaw being the fading to the spine and rubbing to the spine edges. The slipcase shows some wear to the corners and edges - there are some small splits to the edges in places.
Inside, the pages are clean and bright with minimal wear. There are some striking illustrations heading up each chapter.
Dimensions (including slipcase) approximately 25.7cm x 16.2cm x 2.6cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
