This beautiful and scarce edition of Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen was published by George Harrap in 1925. It's bound in original green cloth with gilt decoration and lettering to the spine.
It's in very good condition and features a removable clear plastic jacket. The book shows a slight forward lean, with wear to the corners and foxing to the text block edges. There are some small marks to the front board and faint sunning to the spine. Crushing to the spine ends has caused some splitting in the cloth - a larger split (1cm) to the head of the spine has been repaired with glue.
Inside, there are no inscriptions but the pages show heavy foxing and age toning throughout. The book features the iconic colour plates by A Wallis Mills - it's what makes these editions particularly special.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
