This beautiful, antique edition of Treasury of Canadian Verse was published by Henry Frowde in 1904. So the book is from the Edwardian era. The book is half bound in vellum with delicate gilt decoration in an art nouveau style to the spine. The boards are marbled paper and top edge is gilt.
It's in very good condition with just light wear to the extremities of the book and minor chipping to the marbled paper. The gilt on the spine is lightly rubbed.
Inside, the endpapers are beautifully marbled and there is a bookseller's sticker to the bottom corner of the front pastedown. The pages are clean and bright with occasional foxing (most prominent to the preliminary and end pages) and faint creasing. There is a written inscription to one of the preliminary blank pages.
Dimensions approximately 19.8cm x 13.5cm x 3.5cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
