This beautiful, antique edition of the Westward Ho! by Charles Kingsley was published by Henry Frowde in 1905. So the book is from the mid Edwardian era.
The book is quarter bound in cream vellum with delicate decoration in gilt and red to the spine. The boards are bound in green cloth and the top edge is gilt.
It's in near fine condition with just some light soiling and rubbing to the spine. The corners are worn, with minor fraying to the cloth, and the text block edges show some light foxing.
Inside, there is a written inscription on the front free endpaper and some rubbed out pencil prices. The pages show light age toning and occasional foxing but are remarkably clean and bright.
Dimensions approximately 19.2cm x 13.2cm x 3cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
