This antique edition of Poems by Wordsworth was published by Methuen and Co in 1907. So the book is from the Edwardian era. It is bound in green cloth with pretty floral decoration to the front board and spine.
This lovely vintage copy is in good condition for it's age, but there is wear and crushing to the corners, with some slight fraying to the cloth. There are some marks and faint water stains to the boards, and the floral decoration is worn away in places (particularly to the spine). The spine is darkened and crushing to the spine ends has caused splitting in the cloth. There is also significant rubbing to the spine edges which has caused a small split to the external back hinge.
Inside, the pages show age toning and foxing throughout but the text is clear and bright. There is water staining to the frontispiece and title page, which can also be seen through rippling to the first few pages of the text. The pages are rough cut which is a lovely feature in old books, and makes them feel even older.
The book features pretty black and white illustrations by Edmund New.
Dimensions approximately 23cm x 15cm x 5cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubbled wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
