This beautiful vintage edition of The Boy's Own Book of Natural History by Rev JG Wood was published by George Routledge and Sons. The book is bound in red cloth and features a design by Jessie King to the front.
It's in good condition but there is wear to the corners and rubbing to the boards. The spine is faded and discoloured, with crushing to the spine ends which has caused minor splitting in the cloth. There is a little loss to the red colour along the bottom edges of the boards.
Inside, the front free endpaper has been removed and the book opens onto the verso of the frontispiece which also features a written inscription. The front hinge is cracked and the first page segment is a little shaky. The pages show age toning throughout with sporadic marking. There are further cracks to the gutter in places but no loose pages.
The book features black and white illustrations within the text as well as occasional colour plates.
Dimensions approximately 19.9cm x 14.5cm x 3.5cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
