This stunning Edwardian edition of Mansfield Park by Jane Austen was published by J M Dent and Company in 1908. Two volumes have been bound as one. It features a half calf binding over marbled paper boards. The text block edges are marbled. The spine features five raised bands and gilt tooling.
The book has undergone some restoration work to make it a bit more stable to read and enjoy. Tape has been removed from the back hinge leaving a slight residue and there is wear to the corners and board edges. There is splitting to the back hinge but the hinge has been reinforced with tape internally, making the board more secure. There is marking and scuffing tot he boards and the spine is darkened, with loss to the gilt in places. The title labels have been lost. One page sticks out slightly from the edge of the text block.
Inside, as mentioned above the hinges have been reinforced. The pages show light age toning throughout with scattered foxing. There are twelve colour plates by Charles Brock which make this edition particularly lovely. He was the first illustrator of Austen's works.

The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
