This beautiful edition of Old Mortality by Sir Walter Scott was published by Henry Frowde in 1911.
The book is bound in deep maroon cloth made to resemble leather. There is stunning gilt decoration to the front board and spine. It's got quite an art nouveau feel to it. The boards are cushioned which make this a lovely book to hold and read.
It's in good condition with the most noticeable flaws being the fading and discolouration to the spine. A bump to the back board has caused some slight damage to the cloth. The corners are rubbed and there is wear to the spine ends.
Inside, there is a name written on the front free endpaper. The pages show light age toning and occasional foxing.
Dimensions approximately 18.5cm x 13cm x 3.3cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
