This beautiful antique edition of The Professor by Charlotte Bronte was published by John Grant in 1905. So the book is from the mid Edwardian era. The book is bound in green cloth with gilt floral decoration to the spine. The edges of the text block are rough cut which is a lovely feature in old books - somehow it makes the books feel even older, as if you're handling parchment!
The books is in very good condition for it's age but there is some marking to the boards and light wear to the corners. The spine is lightly faded and discoloured, with crushing to the spine ends and rubbing to the spine edges.
Inside, there is faint cracking to the hinges and the endpapers are foxed and marked. There are no written inscriptions. The pages show light age toning throughout with sporadic foxing.
The book features a handful of beautiful black and white illustration plates, which make it an extra special read :)
Dimensions approximately 21.5cm x 15cm x 3.8cm.
The books will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
