This beautiful edition of Tales from Maria Edgeworth was published by Wells Gardner Darton and Co in 1903. The book is bound in burgundy cloth with stunning gilt decoration to the front board and spine. It's in very good condition but the book does show a slight forward lean, and there is wear and crushing to the corners. The boards show some minor marks and scuffs and there is shelf wear to the board edges. The spine is lightly sunned, with rubbing to the spine edges and crushing to the spine ends.
Inside, the pages show minimal age toning but there is quite a lot of foxing (to the text block edges as well). There is a slight crack to the front hinge but the pages are tightly bound.
The page edges are rough cut and the book features beautiful black and white illustrations by Hugh Thomson throughout.
Dimensions approximately 21cm x 16cm x 3.5cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
