This delightful little book features a mounted sterling silver front cover - hallmarked for Birmingham 1903. The silver features a beautiful repousse design of cherubs. Repousse is a metalworking technique where the metal is shaped by hammering from the reverse side to created a raised design.
The silver is in very good condition, with only minor marks and scuffs. The leather shows more wear, with creasing to the spine and a tiny split to the tail of the spine. A few pages stick out slightly from the edge of the text block.
Inside, some of the pages show wear and tear around the edges leaving it quite jagged. This is most noticeable to the preliminary pages. There is light age toning to the pages. Please note that the title page is missing so the first page after the FFEP is the Contents Page. I think that the pages with jagged edges may have been detached and someone has glued them back in.
This tiny book measures just 5.6cm x 4.8cm x 1.5cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
