This stunning antique edition of Evelina by Fanny Burney was published by Macmillan and Co Ltd in 1932. It features illustrations by Hugh Thomson, a well known illustrator of the late 19th and early 20th century, who is one of my favourite illustrators. Perhaps most well known for illustrating some Austen works.
The book is bound in burgundy cloth, with gilt floral decoration to the spine. It's in very good condition but the book does show a slight forward lean. The cloth shows some marking, including white marking to the front hinge. There is minor rubbing to the gilt on the spine and crushing to the spine ends.
Inside, there is a stamped name on the front free endpaper and the pages show light age toning throughout.
Dimensions approximately 18.7cm x 13cm x 2.8cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
