This stunning edition of Cranford by Mrs Elizabeth Gaskell was published by Joseph Knight in 1891. The book is bound in teal cloth with gilt decoration to the cloth. The boards are bound in beautiful floral fabric which make it a really striking binding.
It's in very good condition but there is rubbing and wear to the corners and extremities of the book. The fabric shows some discolouration and the spine is faintly sunned, with some dulling to the gilt on the spine. The spine ends are crushed.
Inside, the hinges are cracked but the pages remain tightly bound. The pages show light age toning, with very occasional foxing and minor marking.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
