This stunning collection of three novels by George Eliot contains Felix Holt, Romola and Silas Marner. They are finally bound in half vellum, with marbled paper boards and gilt decoration to the spines. All edges are gilt. The books are not dated inside but there is a date of 1885 at the bottom of the spines.
They are in very good condition but do show wear to the boards and board edges, with some loss to the surface of the paper in places. The vellum shows some soiling and there is light darkening to the spines. The gilt text block edges show some scuffing.
Inside, the endpapers are beautifully marbled to match the boards and there is a bookseller's stamp on the verso of the FFEP (in the top corner). The pages are clean and bright with only light age toning and occasional minor marking.
The books feature a handful of black and white plates which add to the charm of this lovely Victorian set.
The books will arrive hand wrapped in patterned paper and ribbon.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
