This beautiful edition of the Peter Parley's Annual was published by Ben George in 1889. So the book is from the latter part of the Victorian era. It's bound in red cloth over bevelled boards, with beautiful pictorial decoration and gilt to the front board and spine.
It's in good condition for it's age with the most noticeable flaw being the bleaching to the spine and bottom edges of the boards. The corners are worn and lightly crushed, and there is rubbing and light bumping to the board edges. The boards show minor soiling but sadly the decoration on the spine is very rubbed and worn. There is crushing to the spine ends.
Inside, the book is illustrated with a gorgeous colour frontispiece and 15 other plates printed in monotint. There is some wear and tear to the edges of the tissue guard for the frontispiece. The pages show light age toning throughout, with sporadic foxing and occasional marking in places. There is a faint crease to page 11 and there are a handful of superficial cracks to the gutter in places - despite this the pages remain tightly bound.

The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubbled wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
