This beautiful edition of Ros Rosarum; Dew of the Everlasting Rose by E.V.B was published by Elliot Stock in 1885. The book is bound in half leather with floral paper boards. The spine features five raised bands and gilt lettering. Top edge gilt. It features a collection of Poems about Roses, written and illustrated by Eleanor Vere Boyle (EVB). The work is a curated collection celebrating the history, romance, and symbolism of the rose across centuries of global literature
It's in very good condition with light scuffing to the leather and small areas of loss to the surface of the floral paper on the front board. There is wear to the extremities and bumping to the top corner of the front board. The spine is faintly sunned.
Inside, the endpapers are floral to match the boards and there is a name plate glued to the front pastedown. There is also a name written in pencil on one of the preliminary blank pages. The pages show light age toning and sporadic foxing.
Dimensions approximately 17.8cm x 11.7cm x 3cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
