This lovely edition of Annals of the Poor by Rev Legh Richmond was published by T Nelson and Sons in 1870. So the book is from the mid Victorian era. It is bound in red orange cloth over bevelled boards, with beautiful blind stamped decoration in black and gilt to the front board and spine. The front board features a beautiful inset illustration. All edges gilt.
***Please note there is a chapter with a racist title***
It's in very good condition but there are some very small holes in the cloth of the external front joint. The cloth shows some soiling and there is scuffing to the front illustration. The spine is darkened, with crushing to the spine ends.
Inside, there is soiling and tarnishing to the endpapers and a long written inscription on the verso of the FFEP. The pages are lightly age toned, with occasional foxing. The pages remain tightly bound.
Dimensions approximately 17.8cm x 12.8cm x 3cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
