This beautiful mid Victorian edition of Gray's Poetical Works was published by George Bell and Son in 1885. It's bound in half leather with floral gilt tooling to the spine. Top edge gilt.
The book is in good condition but there is sunning and rubbing to the spine, with loss to the surface of the leather along the spine edges. There is a very slight crack starting to the bottom of the front joint but it's securely bound. The boards are lightly soiled and marked and there is wear to the corners and board edges. The text block edges show some foxing.
Inside, the pages show light age toning and sporadic foxing. There is a name written in pen to the top of the title page. Endpapers are marbled.
Dimensions of the book are approximately 17.1cm x 11.3cm x 2.3cm.
Every book purchased will be hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
