This beautiful, antique edition of Heber's Hymns was published by Sampson Low, Son and Marston in 1870.  The book is bound in an unusual purple cloth over bevelled boards, with stunning gilt decoration in a floral pattern to the front board and gilt lettering to the spine. All text block edges are gilt. 

It's in good condition but there is significant fading to the front board and spine, as well as the edges of the back board. The corners are worn and slightly fraying and there are some faint marks to the back boards. The spine shows spotting and crushing to the spine ends has caused some splitting and loss in the cloth. 

Inside, there is a written inscription on the FFEP. The pages show light age toning and sporadic foxing throughout. There are two newspaper cuttings loosely tucked at the back, along with another inscription on a piece of paper. 

The book features stunning black and white illustrations throughout, which make this an even more lovely book.

Dimensions approximately 20.2cm x 16.3cm x 2cm. 

The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.

I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
