This stunning little velvet bound edition of The Book of Common Prayer was published in 1850. So the book is early Victorian. It has brass edges and a brass clasp, as well as a pretty brass piece to the front. All edges are gilt.
It's in good condition but there is loss to the velvet on the spine and splitting to the ends of the joints. The velvet on the front is sunned and discoloured, with some loss to the velvet at the bottom corner
Inside, there are no inscriptions and the pages are clean and bright with only minor age toning.
Dimensions approximately 9.5cm x 5.7cm x 1.3cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
