Each book is uniformly bound in pale green cloth with gilt titles and decoration. The front covers features a gilt facsimile of Jane Austen’s signature and the Austen family coat of arms is reflected in the gilt stag. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe books are in good condition for their age, but have been priced to reflect their wear. Both volumes show a pronounced forward lean, with marking to the cloth boards. Volume One has staining to the front board. The spines are sunned and darkened; crushing to the spine ends has caused splitting in the cloth. The corners are lightly worn, with one of them being bumped. There is also some subtle bumping to the board edges. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eInside, both volumes have a name plate glued to the front pastedown and the endpapers are tanned. The pages show age toning and sporadic foxing (most noticeable to the tissue guards, title pages and frontispieces). There are occasional marks and cracks to the gutters but the pages remain tightly bound. The books feature rough cut pages which is a lovely feature in old books. Each volume has three beautiful black and white illustration plates which make these a wonderful read.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDimensions of each volume approximately 17.8cm x 12cm. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAll books purchased will be hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eI use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubbled wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable.
