It has undergone some restoration work, in the form of a spine reback. A new cloth spine has been attached and part of the original spine has been glued over the top. The book was an illustrated anthology by the prolific American author and publisher Samuel Griswold Goodrich (widely known as Peter Parley). It features a collection of nature-themed short stories, fables, dialogues, and poems celebrating the beauty of the changing seasons, accompanied by striking colour engravings\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt's in good condition but there is wear and crushing to the corners which has caused splitting in the cloth. There is also wear and minor chipping to the cloth at the board edges. The boards are rubbed and marked but the gilt and colour decoration is still bright. The spine is lightly sunned with chipping to the colour decoration. Crushing to the spine ends has caused minor splitting in the cloth and some of the original spine is missing at head and tail  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eInside, there is a small chip to the bottom edge of the front free endpaper and a written inscription in pencil to one of the blank preliminary pages. The pages show scattered foxing and age staining throughout, with uneven toning (the plates have caused offset toning to adjacent pages). There is a crack to the gutter just before the frontispiece but the pages remain tightly bound. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe colour plates are absolutely stunning, each with it's own tissue guard. Dimensions approximately 23.4cm x 15.8cm x 2.9cm. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
