This beautiful antique edition of Historical Memorials of Canterbury by Arthur Stanley was published by John Murray in 1895. So the book is late Victorian. The book is fully bound in calf leather with five raised bands and gilt tooling to the spine. The text block edges are marbled.
The book is in very good condition considering it's 130 years old. There is minor wear to the corners and slight dulling to the top edge of the text block. The boards show faint scratches and bumping, with a small dark mark to the back board. The spine is very lightly darkened, and there is a little wear to the head of the spine.
Inside, the pages are in very good condition for their age, with minimal toning and only occasional minor marks. The endpapers are beautifully marbled and there is a written inscription on the reverse of the front free endpaper.
Book dimensions approximately 19cm x 13.3cm x 2.8cm.
The book will be hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
