It's a large folio book, bound in green cloth with stunning gilt decorations to the front board and spine. All edges are gilt and the book measures 39cm x 28.5cm. Please note that the book has been rebound, with the original front and spine being placed over the new cloth binding. This is due to some old water damage that the book sustained. The book has a removable clear plastic jacket. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe book features 16 beautiful colour plates painted by Doyle himself and then engraved and printed by Edmund Evans. This beautiful book is all about the colour plates, but there is a wonderful poem to accompany the illustrations - written by William Allingham, a popular Irish Celtic Revival poet. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eIt's in good condition with light wear to the corners and spine ends. The front shows the water damage and staining that the book sustained, with other light marking to the cloth. There is some dulling and minor loss to the gilt. The original spine shows some dulling and rubbing, with a little loss to the ends. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eInside, the book has new endpapers and no inscriptions. There is heavy foxing throughout and one of the plates is loose at the bottom. The past water damage can be seen to the pages in the second half of the book, with marking and staining. Some of the illustrations have offset to the adjoining pages. The text is still clearly legible and the plates are stunning. Two of the pages have small repairs with clear plastic tape; there is also a small hole in Plate xii. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eBook has been collated and is complete. The book will arrive carefully hand wrapped in bubble wrap, patterned paper and ribbon.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eI use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable.
