There is also an interesting letter dated 1994 when the book was previously sold. The dealer said he had been contacted by a collector who was very disappointed that the book had sold to someone else. So the dealer put the interested party's details in the letter in case the buyer was willing to sell to the avid collector!

The book is in good condition but there is wear to the corners and spine ends, with minor splitting in the cloth. There is minor marking to the boards (most noticeably a dark mark to the front). and some loss to the cloth colour at the top corner of the back board. The gilt is dulled and the spine is sunned, with rubbing to the spine edges.

Inside, the front hinge has been glued and there is cracking between the title page and the frontispiece. The pages show sporadic foxing and there is tanning to the tissue guards for the black and white plates. There is the author's penned inscription on the half title page and some pencilled writing on the FFEP.

Dimensions approximately 17.8cm x 11.9cm x 3.6cm.

The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.

I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0539/9271/8525/files/D73C533B-7576-4E97-A552-4639E01A9655.jpg?v=1792159084
https://thevintagebookworm.co.uk/products/1860-the-poetical-works-of-alexander-pope-victorian-illustrated-book-copy-1
