This beautiful edition of Ursula A Tale of Country Life by Elizabeth Sewell was published by Longmans Green and Co. The book itself is undated but I'd estimate it to be late Victorian (circa 1890). It is bound in brown cloth with stunning floral gilt decoration to the front board and spine. All edges are gilt.
It's in very good condition, with some small red marks to the front board and scuff marks to the back board. The corners are worn which has caused some splitting and fraying to the cloth at the bottom corners. There is faint sunning to the spine and crushing to the spine ends.
Inside, there is tanning to the endpapers and there is a bookseller's sticker to the top corner of the front pastedown. The pages show light age toning and occasional foxing but are remarkably clean and bright. There is also some creasing in places.
Dimensions approximately 18.3cm x 13.2cm x 2.8cm.
All books purchased will be hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
