This beautiful edition of The Pillar of Fire by Rev J H Ingraham was published by Ward, Lock and Co Ltd. The book is undated but there is a written inscription inside dated 1898. So the book is from the late Victorian era.
The book was part of the iconic Lily Series by Ward Lock and Co and is bound in red cloth with stunning lily of the valley detail to the front and spine in gilt. It's showing it's age and has been priced low to reflect this. There is discolouration and fading to the cloth, and some small holes in the cloth along the board edges. The corners are worn and the book shows a slight forward lean. The spine is darkened and the back board is soiled. Crushing to the spine ends has caused splitting in the cloth.
Inside, there are two names in pen to the front free endpapers and also a stamped name. The pages are age toned, with occasional foxing and marking. There is rippling to the pages.

The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
