This beautiful, antique edition of Poems of Robert Bridges was published by Henry Frowde in 1912. So the book is from just after the end of the Edwardian era.
The book is half bound in vellum with delicate gilt decoration in an art nouveau style to the spine. The boards are marbled paper and top edge is gilt. It's in good condition but there is marking and soiling to the vellum, including some brown staining to the front board. The bottom corner of the front board is bumped and wear around the board edges has caused some peeling to the marbled paper. The spine is a little darkened and marked.
Inside, the endpapers are beautifully marbled and there is significant foxing to the preliminary and end pages. The rest of the pages only show light age toning and occasional foxing.
Dimensions approximately 19cm x 13cm x 2.8cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
